Earth Water Air Fire

art that celebrates nature’s elements in the Southwest

ABOUT ME

I’m a New Mexico based contemporary landscape painter. I focus on how the elements of Earth, Water, Air, and Fire combine in the Southwest. My original paintings are acrylic on canvas with a matte finish. I paint with smooth, undulating strokes in evocative palettes. I create art as part of a nature-celebrating Pagan practice.

In 2024, I was a winner of Harwood Art Center’s Surface: Emerging Artists of New Mexico award. The same year, I was a guest artist for three shows at Art Mozaik Fine Art Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I will be a vendor at Albuquerque’s Bruja Fest in October 2024, and the 2024 New Mexico Artisan market over Thanksgiving weekend.

A native Californian, I moved from the Bay Area to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2023. I live with my partner Chris Hughes, who lovingly builds my frames and large canvases. Together we have a pit bull and two cats.

Artist Statement

I moved to New Mexico in 2023 with a heart full of big emotions: love for a new partner, grief for a dying parent, excitement for a new chapter, and fear of the unknown. I needed a grounding spiritual practice, and I found it through painting the Southwest.

As a practitioner of today’s growing Neo-Pagan movement, I enjoy looking for the elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire. I see them repeating here as undulating curves: sinuous cottonwood tree bark, rippling desert lake, rolling clouds in a big sky, or fiery layers of sandstone canyon. As I paint nature’s twists and turns, they remind me that life is never a straight, lonely line. We are all moving through the wheel of the seasons and our own cycles of birth, loss, and rebirth. Deeply observing nature through painting helps me meet change with wonder instead of fear.
